ELSMORE'S WELLNESS PAGE 3 |
| LONGEVITY |
| In the late 1990's there was a news item about a study
done on the longevity
of different groups of people in America. The newscaster read part of the list. The Mormons
were number one, the Seventh Day Adventists were number seven and near the bottom of the list were doctors with an
average life span of fifty-seven years. I do not remember the exact number, on the list, for truck drivers but I do
remember that the truck drivers lived longer than the doctors. The question that comes to mind is, why do we trust our
health to a group of people that only live to be fifty-seven? |
|
LISTED BELOW, IN THE ORDER OF IMPORTANCE, ARE THE FOUR KEY ELEMENTS OF LONGEVITY |
| MENTAL ATTITUDE |
| A good mental attitude is the most important factor for good health. A group of people, all over the age of 90, were asked what they attributed to their longevity. The answers to the longevity question were varied. Some broke all the rules of good health and should of been dead years ago. The only common thread that emerged from talking with these elderly people was that they where all very up, happy, positive people. If it were not for the drug and alcohol abuse in show business, comedians would be the longest living group of people in America, hands down. George Burns, Red Skelton, Milton Burl and Bob Hope all lived into their 90's. When you are upset, angry or resentful all kinds of important systems in the body shut down including your digestion. If you stay in this distressful state long enough, you cannot help but become ill. Remember that being upset or happy is a conscious choice and has nothing to do with what other people do. |
| BODY pH |
| Unless you keep your pH level 7.0 or above, a good diet and exercise will be of little value. Your pH level will determine how much free oxygen is in your cells and this in turn will determine how disease free your body is. |
| DIET |
| Keep high acid foods to a minimum and eat fresh vegetables and fruit to help offset the acid in cooked foods. You have been told, for years, to worry about the salt you eat. If you really want to be healthy forget about the salt and worry about how much sugar you eat. If you eat candy and drink soda pop (super saturated sugar water) it will be impossible to keep your pH at a healthy level. If you like meat, eat meat. All the animals on earth that yawn, eat meat. The animals that do not yawn, graze. The only thing that can get past the blood block to feed the brain is a complex chain of amino acids that occur only in animal meat. It has been discovered that this amino acid chain also appears in blue green algae. Blue green algae travels to the surface of Klamouth lake to absorb nutrients from the sun and then goes back to the floor of the lake to feed on the volcanic sediment, so it is possible that this algae is both plant and animal. Don't eat all red meat, switch off with fish and chicken. A good rule to follow is that all of God's food is good for you but try to keep machine chewed food to a minimum (Twinkies). |
| EXERCISE |
| Exercise and good health go hand in hand.
Extensive tests have been done on heart and muscle tissue during
and after extended periods of exercise. The results of the tests show that exercise up to thirty minutes is
beneficial to both the heart and muscle tissue. After thirty minutes the benefits of exercise tapered off rapidly.
The tests also showed that a brisk thirty minute walk was just as beneficial as thirty minutes of jogging, bicycling,
rowing or swimming. In the case of exercise, more is not necessarily better.
