Those against taking vitamins believe that all you accomplish, by taking vitamins, is vitamin enriched urine. The truth is, people that take vitamins live longer. A 24 year study of almost 12 thousand people by Professor James E. Enstrom of U.S.C. found that taking vitamins and supplements cut the death rate in half. Even more astonishing was the fact that deaths from cancers and heart disease for those taking the daily supplements was less than ten percent of those who did not take supplements.

Taking, at least, 1000 mg. of Ester-C and a good quality multi vitamin, mineral supplement daily is cheap health insurance. If you are over fifty and want to fight heart disease you should add folic acid to your vitamin list. Dr. Robert C. Atkins recommends 3 grams or more of folic acid daily (numerous scientific studies have shown that folic acid is North America's number-one vitamin deficiency). Over 100,000 deaths a year, in the United States, are attributed to abnormally high levels of homocysteine. Every one of the deaths attributed to homocysteine elevation could have been easily prevented by sufficient folic acid supplements.

In this world of machine chewed food vitamins are crucial in helping us maintain optimal health.
